Marist's main campus is located in Poughkeepsie, NY, right along the majestic Hudson River. Located 90 minutes North of New York City, 90 minutes South of Albany, NY, and equidistant between Binghamton, NY and Boston, MA, Marist is situated at the apex of the Northeast.
Just over a century ago, the Marist Brothers came to New York's Hudson River Valley to train young men to continue the Brothers' vocation as great educators. Now sectarian, the College aligns itself with the unique and growing spirit of the Hudson Valley – a spirit of kind, proud progress.
Bounded on one side by the Hudson River, Marist students are encouraged to utilize the resources that the river has to offer. While Environmental Science students analyze live, measurable data from the Hudson River, our prestigious and historic Rowing Team can be seen sailing by.
In the heart of Poughkeepsie, NY, Marist sits just minutes from the homes of some of this country's most influential people. The home, museum, and presidential library of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, to which Marist has long-standing connections, is just a short distance from campus. The Hudson River Valley Institute, hosted through Marist, is the academic arm of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, which provides educational resources for heritage tourists, scholars, elementary school educators, environmental organizations, the business community, and the general public.
Dutchess and the surrounding counties are home to diverse opportunities to experience art, culture, and adventure. Marist promotes a learning environment in which students are invigorated to explore and immerse themselves in cultures different from their own, which is why the Hudson Valley is only one of many locations that our students have the opportunity to study.
Located in Florence Italy at the historic intersection of European culture and industry, Marist’s Florence campus was founded to be the international face of the College’s commitment to global education. Partnered with one of the most established and innovative educators in Florence, The Lorenzo d’Medici Institute, Marist has offered study abroad opportunities for more than two decades.
Offering a wide range of Bachelor’s degrees, as well as a Master of Art in Museum Studies, Florence is an ideal location for Marist students to learn by living and experiencing entirely new cultures. Art students in Florence have the opportunity to view great works of art in their original location and grasp the original context. Italy is rich with fashion history, an advantage which our students and faculty actively utilize whenever possible. All of the programs offered at Marist’s Italy campus are designed to build on the unique strengths of Florence and to treat the city and cultures as extensions of the classroom.
Aside from the immense educational opportunities that our Florence campus offers, students are encouraged to engage first-hand in not only Italian culture, but the global cultures that circulate throughout the city. From a coffee shop on the corner to the dozens of museums, Marist students are given access to new world experience and given the opportunity to mature and grow with other young, expanding minds. As Florence has become something of a mecca for global learning, our students often find themselves in learning environments with students from Egypt to Holland to Turkey. Florence is also a convenient gateway into all other areas of Europe. After quickly finding their bearings, Marist students often utilize direct access to a plethora of cultures and cities, from Budapest to Paris and beyond.
While Florence on its own is an incredibly student-friendly environment, Marist and the LdM Institute work to put students in contact with cutting-edge opportunities. Through the Italy campus, students may travel to a trade fair on sustainability in Verona or a jewelry fair in Arezzo; it is because of these immersive educational experiences and a gained international perspective that employers respond as positively as they do to the resumes of our Florence students.

Marist students have an exclusive opportunity right down the road from campus at Sprout Creek Farm. The Farm is a nonprofit, fully-working, 200-acre farm and education center in Poughkeepsie. For a quarter of a century, Sprout Creek Farm has produced award-winning cheese, raised a variety of farm animals, and offered numerous educational programs focused on agriculture and the environment.
In 2018, Sprout Creek Farm transferred control of its operations over to Marist as a way to ensure the viability of the farm's future. Sprout Creek Farm provides the College with a tremendous opportunity to enhance programs for our students and faculty while continuing the wonderful educational offerings the Farm has offered its community for more than 25 years.
In this “marriage of missions,” Marist has fully integrated the Farm into the function and curriculum of the College. Our students have the exciting opportunity to educate themselves and others about the rich agricultural heritage of the Hudson Valley and foster a sense of responsibility for the future of the environment.
Sprout Creek plays a key role in Marist’s experiential learning programs by serving as a living classroom and providing hands-on learning opportunities for our students in a variety of academic disciplines.
