Liberty Partnerships Program
The Marist College Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP), is a collaborative project between the New York State Education Department, Marist College, and Poughkeepsie City School District. To expand opportunities for its scholars, Marist College LPP collaborates with various community-based organizations and local businesses.
Marist College provides leadership and resources including use of its facilities, access to faculty and students, and administrative regulatory oversight. Marist College also offers a merit scholarship to LPP students (statewide) who enter the College through regular admissions. This scholarship is equal to a 50% reduction in tuition costs. Partnerships with community-based organizations and businesses vary from year-to-year and enhance the program. Long-standing partners have been Dojo Dance Company, Planned Parenthood, Mediation Center of Dutchess County, American Association of University Women, IBM, Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce, Tony’s Pizza, Applebee’s and Kohl’s. These organizations and businesses have provided workshops (health, wellness, restorative justice, science, technology, engineering, math, financial literacy, and parent workshops). They have also provided discounted meals, fundraising opportunities, and scholarships.
