New Student Orientation

Welcome to the Marist Community! The Office of First Year Programs and Leadership Development provides traditional first-year students with a comprehensive year-long orientation experience that begins with our New Student Orientation and continues with Welcome Week and a unique, ongoing Mentoring Program.

On behalf of the entire staff of First Year Programs, we are really looking forward to showing you all of the fantastic opportunities we've created to help you get the most out of your first year at Marist. This year, we've transitioned our New Student Orientation into a virtual format packed with exciting and interactive opportunities to learn about life as a Red Fox. If you are an incoming first-year student, you'll be receiving information from our team about how to engage in this experience. If you have any additional questions, please email us at FirstYearPrograms@Marist.edu.

Jump into New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation will begin virtually on Monday, June 21. This six-week program will be a hybrid experience with opportunities to engage with other students on-ground and virtually. The virtual portion of the program is required and optional in-person sessions will begin on Thursday, June 24. In these in-person sessions, you will have the opportunity to choose your session, and bring one guest. Programs are not to exceed 50 students with one guest each.

Spots for on-campus events have filled quickly. For those who would still like to register for the optional in-person New Student Orientation program, please call the Office of First Year Programs at 845-575-3517 Monday - Friday between 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, and we will try to fit you in.

Throughout the program, we will be highlighting a wide variety of academic opportunities, student activities, and campus resources available to you throughout your college career. During New Student Orientation, you will meet this year's Orientation Leaders (OLs). When you meet your OL for the first time, you'll discover a mentor, a peer, and a friend who will be there to answer your questions and help you feel more comfortable and connected.

myMail

Beginning Monday, June 21, all emails will be sent to your Marist email, so be sure to set up your account and check it often! We've listed some helpful resources below for your Marist Mail.

Placement Tests, Surveys, and First Year Seminar

In addition to making your FYS selection, entering students were asked to take placement tests and surveys prior to beginning orientation to help us know more about your placements and preferences. While several dates have closed, we have left contact information up for each of these areas should you have specific questions.

Students, please check this page and your Marist email regularly to be sure you don't miss the submission deadlines.  We want to be sure you are “Red Fox Ready!”

Parent Orientation

The first year of college, and the summer preceding it, are a time of celebration and change for you and your family. You are an important part of the Marist community, and the role you play in your student's successful transition to college cannot be underestimated!

For these reasons, we hold a special Parent Orientation each year that runs concurrently with our student program. Parent Orientation will offer insights into student life, academic resources, campus policies, Parent Council activities, and more. Be sure to mark your calendars for the launch of your orientation program starting on June 21! This four-week series will be a hybrid experience with opportunities to engage on-ground and virtually. The in-person sessions are optional and will begin on Thursday, June 24.
